alden and i have started going to the library! today we returned a great book, subway, by karen katz. ok, so it's maybe not GREAT, but it was one of the few that alden will sit still for. for our last reading of it before heading out this morning, he actually laughed at a few pages! unheard of. i wonder if he recognized that the illustrations were of the train. i wonder how much illustrations translate to babies. anyway, we took it back and got a couple of new books to borrow and mama used the library computers to print out a registration form for...music class!
nona has generously agreed to give alden and mama music classes! a bunch of our buddies take a music together class locally and since alden loves the cds he's been given so much, i think he'll get a kick out of the class. how exciting!
after the library, we walked back to our local park, maria hernandez (which, incidentally, i just learned was re-named in the '80s for a community activist who was murdered in her home by the drug dealers she fought so hard to get rid of...so sad) to swing and ran into one of our new baby group buddies and his mama! turns out they live just a few blocks from us. we swung for a bit and then went to get a bagel, at which point bun, who is seen above at the beginning of our journey and already a bit crabby, had had enough and grumped at me the whole way home. eh! we're still working on enjoying the stroller. i think the real problem was that he was hungry. he's on a milk-only strike at the moment and has gotten perhaps too used to nursing in the ergo, so this no-access ride was a little frustrating for him. we're both looking forward to his eating more solids and being able to snack in the stroller...
