we are siiiiiick. we have been siiiiick for too loooooong.
we grow weary of feeling weary. here is yet another poor quality video of our high quality (if slightly snuffly) baby. see the mess? yep. mama's sick, ok?
see the light streaming through the window in the other room? the other room that never gets used anymore, because it's the studio? the other room where all of my fabric is getting dusty and at least one plant has died from neglect? that should be the bedroom instead, huh?
anyway. the video!
alden thinks it's funny when we pretend to be asleep and then pop our heads up and gasp, so that's what's going on here.
in other news, we went to the doctor on tuesday and it was horrible and once i get the insurance stuff straightened out, we're switching practices. they prescribed bunny an inhaler. an inhaler! with no diagnosis. his breathing isn't labored and from all accounts, he has a cold. i filled the prescription, but haven't administered a single puff yet. i can't bring myself to give this stuff to a baby. my baby. especially since it was prescribed by a doctor who spent *maybe* three minutes with him. we're running the humidifier nonstop, boiling large pots of water for steam and taking steam baths in the bathroom. and since returning from our trip to virginia, he has quit the nursing strike and seems to be trying to play catch up. so yes. dr. mama says steam + milk + rest. hopefully we'll be all better for the baby group holiday party on saturday.

ReplyDeletewe did the humidifier plus saline nasal drops. seemed to work out ok in the end.
part of the reason i can't be bothered by the holidays is that the house is a wreck. it's hard to feel happy about decorating when you can't even find your cat in the pile of 'clean' laundry on the bed.

ReplyDeletethanks! and yes! and inhaler! crazy. this was after she set up a nebulizer with albuterol and instructed me to stand there for an unknown amount of time and hold it to his little nose. then she left the room. i kind of did that, half-heartedly after trying to express my concerns over giving albuterol to an infant. hmph. apparently she heard a wheeze with the stethoscope? anyway. oh! we're using saline drops and the bulb syringe as well. nothing is coming out anymore though, so hopefully that's a good sign.
ps- erica, i totally know how you feel. our place is a disaster area. the thought of a christmas tree crossed my mind earlier, but why bother?? just more clutter and we won't be here for christmas anyway. hm. i keep dreaming of one day having a nice, clean, organized but comfortable home that people will want to visit us in. decorating for the holidays would be so much more enjoyable...sigh.
ReplyDeleteGood on you for not jumping at the inhaler. That does sound weird. I used to be a medical rep and would see Drs freely write scripts for all manner of mild illnesses.
ReplyDeleteIf Alden is blocked up (?), I highly recommend a nasal aspirator. Sounds gross, but it's very satisfying when you vacuum out their tiny nostrils. They can breathe and sleep easier. Also, I've got an electric vaporiser. Definitely helps with breathing.
And that is such a darling video, had me laughing too - you gotta love the surprise games!
