alden and i just got back from a mama meetup at enid's where he ate some pear squish that we brought along as well as some of mama's white bean (and ham...gasp!) soup. this was all too exciting apparently and he's now fighting the afternoon nap with all he's got. we're listening to his music together cd (drum) that our friends gave us and when kookaburra started, he looked at me with the biggest, goofiest smile ever. it was amazing. i sing him that one on the train sometimes when he's fussy and i guess it's become his new favorite.
i will admit that bun has been driving me a little bit crazy lately. between the lack of orderly sleep and his inability to just sit still, i've been envying our pals who are able to afford a nanny or the occasional night out sans bebe, but at the same time, i find myself more and more in love with this funny little person every day. though it doesn't seem possible to have any more love than we already do for this little guy. i guess one day our hearts are just going to explode.
we're still trying to muster the energy to hire a nanny for 9 hours a week. otherwise i'll never finish my dissertation.
ReplyDeletetry and have a friend watch alden for the afternoon or early evening. we had our first dinner out alone in january, and it helped a lot.
sleep is still a mess in our house. i understand completely the combination of frustration and overwhelming love.
