happy february!

this was the scene before our morning nap. alden was stuffy this weekend and it seems as though a full schedule of entertaining and being entertained has allowed for the invasion of a full-blown cold. poor bun is a gurgling faucet of mucus. that has not stopped his play time, however and the lucky babe woke up around noon to a package being delivered from michigan with a brand new toy from great grandma klein! he is at this very moment happily investigating his new soft and crinkly book by manhattan toy. thanks, grandma!
oh, but back to this weekend. on saturday afternoon, two of alden's best buddies from play group came over (with their mamas and papas) for some of ian's delicious pizza creations. we had a great time, but alden was a little confused by their appearance in his space. i couldn't understand why he was being so irritable, but now i think it must have been the cold making its landing. hopefully our baby friends don't catch the runny nose. so far, ian and i have been fine.
sunday alden and i got up around 6, after four hours of sleep and baked an apple cake together for our friends' baby shower. i wasn't pleased, being up so early, but was later glad for our little living alarm clock, as after going back to bed, we woke up with only 45 minutes before the party. we made it, however, and alden had a fabulous time, hanging out with the grown-ups and his hidden buddy-to-be.
so our weekend was fantastic and we were reminded of how much we enjoy the company of friends and have vowed to entertain more often this year. today alden and i are sitting around the playmat in our jammies, eating baby rice crackers and telling stories. oh! and did i mention teeth? alden has two teeth now. hooray!
You are a Superwoman! Up at 6 after four hours sleep to bake an apple cake for the shower?? How will I ever be able to compete with that?? You win. You're amazing. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteAnyway - had a super time with you my special family buds. Can't wait for our friendship circle to expand!!

HA! oh thanks, bree! but we were only up because alden couldn't stay asleep any longer and didn't want to be put back down...baking wore him out sufficiently. put 'em to work!
