so we're up at 7:30 on new year's day because apparently alden just cannot wait to share his excitement of what's to come in 2010. he woke up smiling and talking about da da da, which was lovely, but we're having none of it and i'm bouncing him back to sleep. what better time to jot down some of our resolutions, wishes and predictions?

2010 will be the year our little man


gets his first teeth
learns to crawl (possibly any day now)
starts to eat solid food
turns ONE WHOLE YEAR old!

and so much more. it's just amazing how quickly humans grow in the first year. i can't get over it. fewer than six months ago, this little creature couldn't even hold his head up and now he's rolling and sitting (for short periods) and craning that little neck to take in every possible sight. from the furrowed and frowning newborn who we feared would never smile or laugh sprung this cheerful little elf with a great sense of humor. alden understands so many words now, more than we are even aware, i'm sure and has recently been giving kisses on command. yes, we command the baby to give us kisses. just last night ian and i nearly gave one another black eyes, leaning down to kiss the bunny at the same time. so much love!

2010 will also be the year that our family

joins our local csa! we are so excited about this. every year i mean to and every year i forget until it's too late. we eat so many veggies and this will help us mix it up a bit. we need more randomness in our lives, right? also, organic veggies for alden's home made baby food! grandma and grandpa whitmore gave us a lovely baby food cookbook that we can't wait to try out. one recipe uses real vanilla beans (which aunt josie just so happened to give us)--fancy!

moves! our lease is up at the end of february and we're excited to move back to our old neighborhood, greenpoint! sure it's stinky in the summer, but it's where our friends live, it's closer to Stuff and Parks and generally a happier place than bushwick. for us, at least. though lately i have been thinking that my impression of where we live has been tainted by our downstairs neighbors and that if it weren't for them, this place really wouldn't be that bad. eh! so long anyway!
