dairy sensitivity. it's real. and not to be messed with.

cheese yesterday. mocha with steamed milk , burrito with crema and a creamy soup today.
now we have a very uncomfortable, unhappy, spitting up baby.

i really *want* to dismiss the cow's milk naysayers as overzealous, nutritional fadists and sticks-in-the-mud, but instead, i'm jumping on their milk-free bandwagon.
poor bunny.

in other news, ollie lou has had a jam-packed weekend of socializing and fun! brunch with some new buddies and their mamas and papas on saturday and a visit from grandma and grandpa whitmore and aunt josie today. hooray!

photos? who has time for photos?

  1. oh valerie... that sucks!
during the summer i discovered i have more than just a sensitivity to dairy... and, it stinks! but, on the other hand... i'm way healthier than i was and my allergies have almost disappeared. so... good luck with the dairy sensitivity. there are some delicious cheese/ ice cream/ etc. substitutes out there!

  3. nah, it isn't just a fad, i know plenty of women who have had to cut out dairy. and it's made a huge difference!

the one thing i noticed leon has a bad reaction to is eggs. which is a pity because i love making omelettes a la julia child.

will keep you posted on upcoming nyc trip! hope alden's tummy feels better.

  4. Moira was fine but I've know quite a few new babes who couldn't handle their mamas having dairy. That didn't even mean they couldn't have dairy themselves when they got older but those new digestive systems are tricky and some are more sensitive than others.

  5. I strongly believe there is plenty of truth in that dairy theory. I remember seeing one poor lady at our post-natal clnic who said her baby (her first) screamed all the time and possibly slept an hour a day max. She was quite shellshocked. I asked if she liked dairy, to which she replied 'I love the stuff, can't get enough milk!'.

    Caffeine rattles babies too.
